Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to the recently released audiobook, Kingdom of Acatalec, a Sci-fi Fantasy Adventure Romance novel from award-winning author S.M. McCoy.

This is the first book in The Acatalec Series, it is narrated by the author, who is also a professional narrator recording under the name – Stevie Marie. The audio production has a run time of 10 hrs and 21 mins and it’s published by Broken Books LLC.

I always consider it fascinating when an author records their own work, because they are giving the listeners unique insight into the story, the characters, and, of course, the universe they created. The fact that this particular author is also a talented narrator can only enrich the narrative experience.

Now, let’s find out more about the story from the Publisher’s Summary, and after that, I will tell you a few things about Stevie.

I work with aliens, my best friends is held hostage, and everyone wants to murder me before the lord prince can magically bond to share my power?

If I had known an illegal drone race would lead to murder, kidnapping, and lies, then I might have thought better about the giant prize of credits and the dream of walking again.

I never met my best friend in person until a drone race gone wrong had both of us vying for our lives against a secret alien society. To make matters worse…my boss was one of them, and I couldn’t decide if he was trying to save my life or the reason I was in trouble to begin with.

S.M. McCoy a.k.a Stevie Marie is the author of young adult paranormal fantasy and The Divine Series. Born within the apex of another universe, where magic flows like leaky faucets, and forged from the fires of the Underrealm she dug her way to Earth and reluctantly participates in human society, secretly returning to her home world to relay the stories of her monsters, and the troubled love of her people. When she isn’t writing she’s narrating audiobooks, crafting clothing in her sewing room, or cuddling her tiny humans in the rainy city of Seattle, Washington.

This is what Stevie says about how she decided to also become an audiobook narrator:

As an author, I wanted to get into audiobooks in order to allow more people to be able to enjoy my imagination.

There are too many people out there who love to be immersed into new worlds, and reading a book is not an option for them. Whether it’s dyslexia, or visual impairment audiobooks really are the greatest thing to happen to stories. Bards have been telling stories this way since before things were written down.

Once I heard one of my stories come to life by a wonderful voice actress Tara Marie Kirk, her dedication, and professionalism really inspired me to join her world. I wanted to do what she did. I wanted to bring more stories to life, not just with my keyboard, but with my voice.

And that is when I decided to solidify this new venture, broadening my love of books, and making a commitment to myself and to authors to bring more books to audio.

Check back here in late August to read my full review for Kingdom of Acatalec, but until then, take care, stay safe, and don’t forget, always listen with your heart.

We hope that you enjoyed this article and, if you did, that you will share it with your friends on social media.
