Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to My Dearest Miss Fairfax: What Jane Austen’s Emma didn’t know, a recently released Historical Fiction Audiobook from Award Winning author Jeanette Watts.

This promising audiobook is narrated by Stevie Zimmerman and has a runtime of a little under nine hours.

I think that this story will appeal to both Jane Austen fans and followers, but also to readers and listeners fascinated by historical fiction. The action is set in England in 1813.

Let’s take a look at the Publisher’s Summary in order to find out more about the story and after that, I will introduce you to our author and narrator.

From Jeanette Watts, a new Regency-set historical fiction novel following a lesser-known character from one of history’s favorite female authors.

Miss Jane Fairfax has spent her life—though poor and expecting the eventuality of a governess position—by the side of a colonel’s daughter, living beyond the means she was born into. When she meets the enigmatic and handsome Frank Churchill in Weymouth, she can’t help but fall for him.

Mr. Frank Churchill, the heir to his aunt’s fortune and dependent on her goodwill, knows that he cannot marry without Mrs. Churchill’s permission. Desperate to marry Jane, he proposes not only marriage but a plan to hide their engagement until his aunt approves of the match. The couple travel separately to their same small hometown of Highbury, where Jane’s ridiculous aunt and the notorious Emma Woodhouse threaten the understanding between them, and as the months pass by, Jane worries that they will be secretly engaged forever, with no happy ending in sight.

As their lies and deceits pile up, can their love survive the social pressures that threaten to tear them apart?

Jeanette Watts has written three Jane Austen-inspired novels, two other works of historical fiction, dance textbooks, stage melodramas, television commercials, and humorous essays for Kindle Vella. She is a regular contributor to Book Cave. When she is not writing, she is either dancing, sewing, or walking around in costume at a Renaissance festival talking in a funny accent and offering to find new ladies’ maids for everyone she finds in fashionably-ripped jeans.

Jeanette Watts just can’t seem to follow the rules. When she writes inside a genre, instead of following the rules, she twists and breaks them. When authors are told to write in only one genre, she writes books in different genres. Instead of sticking to writing books, she writes screenplays and one-acts. A well-written story is apparently more important to her than the algorithms for marketing.

Jeanette won some Awards like People’s Telly Award for short film, “Cinderella’s Boot.  Honorable Mention, Rainbow Award for “A Woman’s Persuasion.” Hopefully this time next year she can be bragging about receiving the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award for either Historical Fiction or Fictional Audiobook for “My Dearest Miss Fairfax.” She says It’s good to have dreams.

Native UK English voiceover artist and narrator Stevie Zimmerman has been voicing audiobooks, commercials, e-learning, and narrations for more than 10 years. Stevie is the voice of over 120 audiobooks, ranging from Historical and Regency Romances and Chick Lit to Self Help and Non-Fiction. Her commercials can be heard on radio stations from Connecticut to Oregon, as well as being the voice of K12 learning systems in the U.K.

I will return sometime in January with a full review for My Dearest Miss Fairfax, but until then, take care, stay safe, have some Happy Holidays, and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!
