Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to Extinction Event, the first novel in the Edge of Ruin series written by prolific science fiction and fantasy author Jonathan Yañez. This is a brand new audiobook narrated by the talented Rachel Leblang, it is published by Tantor Audio and has a run time of a little over 7 hours.

Let’s take a look at the Publisher’s Summary so that we are all a little more familiar with the plot of the novel and after that, I will tell you, as always, a few things about our narrator and author.

Side effects have occurred.

They’ve created a miracle drug. With it, true beauty is achieved. Now, saying goodbye to depression, anxiety, and loneliness is a breeze.

Of course, anything that sounds too good to be true usually is.

Because something has gone horribly wrong.

When events take a turn for the worst, this corporation calls on its best.

Taylor Hart is a Cleaner well-versed in sweeping questionable events under the proverbial rug. The only thing better than her crisis management skills is her right hook. But the rabbit hole Taylor is thrust into only goes deeper as she discovers the nefarious specifics around the miracle drug and its creators.

Taylor is in a race against the clock to find a cure before the darkest parts of human nature are amplified and consume them all.

Rachel Leblang has been using audiobooks to liven up her frequent car rides for over 8 years now and annoying her family with silly voices for 28. While earning a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language Studies she was asked to lend her voice to a classmate’s video game and a passion for voice acting was born!

She made the natural leap into audiobooks and has produced more than 120 audiobooks to date. When Rachel isn’t locked in her recording booth she enjoys working on her inordinate amount of jigsaw puzzles and playing too many video games.

Jonathan Yañez is quite a prolific Sci-Fi author who was born to write these stories and this is what he says about himself:

I’ve come to chug caffeine and weave some wild tales. And I’m all out of caffeine. I’m Jonathan, a husband to the CEO of our company (she never lets me forget that). A father of two wonderful warriors in training. And a writer, in that order.

I think this is where most authors would tell you how many books they’ve written and awards they’ve won but I’d rather use this time for you to get to know the real me. I write because that’s what I was born to do and I love doing it. Because of the support from awesome people like you, I get to do it full-time.

I’m really excited to start this new series by such a renowned author and of course, narrated by the talented Rachel, so keep an eye out for my full review for Extinction Event in August, but until then, take care, stay safe, and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!

We hope that you enjoyed this article and, if you did, that you will share it with your friends on social media.
