99 Percent Kill by Doug Richardson out now as Audiobook
Hello again, dear Audiobooks Fans! I am really glad to let you all know that Doug Richardson has released, in July, the first three books in his Lucky Dey Series of Thrillers in Audiobook Format.
After I highlighted Blood Money in a previous article, the time has come for 99 Percent Kill, the second novel in the Lucky Dey Series of dark mystery thrillers from this author that I enjoy more and more with every book of his that I listen to. As you may well know, I am always on the lookout for authors with writing styles similar to Michael Connelly or Robert Crais and I think that Doug Richardson delivers such a narrative experience.
The Publisher’s Summary for 99 Percent Kill gives us the following insight into the story:
When the real enemy is closer than you think….
Lucky Dey is at it again. This time, the on-again/off-again Los Angeles cop is more willful and acerbic than he’s ever been before. Awaiting his official reinstatement, Lucky accepts a one-time gig to track down the missing teenage daughter of a Midwestern millionaire.
Determined to find the girl, Lucky tangles with Tinseltown’s dark underbelly to locate the millionaire’s daughter. Winding his way through an L.A. landscape where the lights are bright but reality can be murky and perilous, Lucky is trapped in a trafficking web, entangled with vile human predators. But bringing the girl home safely becomes more dangerous than he expects. For the first time ever, the payoff might not be worth the price.
Both the author and the narrator of this series are some really cool people and I’ll add below their bios for you to take a look at.
Doug Richardson cut his teeth writing movies like DIE HARD 2, BAD BOYS, and HOSTAGE. But scratch the surface and discover he thinks there’s a killer inside all of us.
His Lucky Dey books exist between the gutter and the glitter of a morally suspect landscape he calls Luckyland–aka Los Angeles–the city of Doug’s birth and where he lives with his wife, two children, four big mutts, and the dead body he’s still semi-convinced is buried in his San Fernando Valley back yard.
The narrator is Tim DeKay and he has a wide range of work in film, television and theater. For six seasons, he starred as “Peter Burke” in White Collar on USA. Additional television work includes Here and Now (HBO), Tell Me You Love Me (HBO, 2007 AFI Award), Carnivale (HBO), American Crime(ABC) and many others.
His films include Best Man Wins, Get Smart, Peaceful Warrior, Big Eden, Swordfish, and others. His stage work covers Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tours.
I already listened to 99 Percent Kill and I loved it! Blood Money was a great first novel, but in 99 Percent Kill some really crazy things happen that left me in a state of shock. I will post a full review this week, but until then, I can say that this series is very entertaining and enjoyable.
