Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! In todays article, I want to let you all know about a promising debut novel which is available now in audiobook format. Call Numbers is the first book in a new series written by former New York Library employee and blogger turned author Syntell Smith. Call Numbers sounds really interesting to me, as it seems to be inspired by real events and people, while at the same time it could be appealing for fans of The Office or The West Wing TV series.

The audio production is narrated by P.G. Hammock and it’s a little over 13 hours in duration.

To learn more about the plot, let’s take a look at the Publisher’s Summary below:

Life is a book…and every person is a chapter.

Everything’s looking up for Robin Walker. It’s 1994 in New York City, and he’s been transferred downtown to the 58th Street Branch Library. Ready to move up the ladder, Robin is excited about the opportunities that await him.

But success, personal or professional, is as elusive as a first-edition rare book. Robin struggles with his strange new work environment as this motley crew of employees generates more drama than a runaway best seller. He doesn’t know who to believe – or who to let in. And as potential romance mingles with devious machinations, there’s no telling where Robin’s story will go. All he knows is that he must see it through to the very last page.

Call Numbers is a captivating and multilayered adult drama. Through realistic dialogue and situations, author Syntell Smith has crafted a modern-day classic about the trials and tribulations of adulthood. Because a library is usually the last place you’d expect high drama, but for these characters…it’s long overdue.

Syntell Smith was born and raised in Washington Heights, Upper Manhattan in New York City. He began writing while blogging his hectic everyday life experiences in 2004. After gaining an audience with a following of dedicated readers, he studied scripts and plays and got into screenwriting. “Call Numbers” is his first novel that he plans to develop into a series. He loves comic books, video games, and watching reruns of Law and Order. Syntell is active on Facebook, Tumblr & Twitter, and currently lives in Detroit.

Having spent over twenty years behind the scenes, Phil ‘P.G.’ Hammock has worked with a host of Fortune 500 companies including SAP, Subaru, Nintendo, Shell, HP, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He is the guy next door with a touch of old Hollywood. While he no longer hails from the Lone Star State, Phil gets back to see friends and family regularly and for two decades has been the voice of the Westlake Community Performing Arts Center in Austin. Growing up in Los Angeles and Austin, Phil now lives outside of New York City with his wife, two daughters, and a very senior dog named Elwood. Whether from his home studio or in-person, Phil loves interacting with his clients and helping to tell their stories. He has most recently finished narrating audiobooks about youthful indiscretions, submarine warfare, and the secret lives of librarians.

A review for Call Numbers will be live in the upcoming weeks, but until then take care, stay safe and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!
