New sci-fi audiobook Evolutionary Rupture – The Song of the Spheres, book 1, by Vassil Vassilev, available now performed by Damon Abdallah
Hello again, dear audiobook friends!
Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to Evolutionary Rupture, the first adventure in the Song of the Spheres series. This is an epic science fiction novel by Vassil Vassilev, recently released as an English audiobook in collaboration with Books in Motion. The audiobook is performed by Damon Abdallah, an experienced narrator with over 120 audiobooks to his name and is a little over 17 hours in duration.
Both my wife and I love to listen to sci-fi audiobooks, and this one should keep us busy and entertained for some quality time.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the Publisher’s Summary, and after that, I will tell you more about our author and narrator.
In the 24th century, the sovereign lunar city of Lumena prospers while Earth burns in the Long War. When the conflict reaches the Moon, Lumenian scientists discover an alien artifact that promises salvation—and unleashes catastrophe. An experiment spirals out of control, and the starship Oneiros vanishes into the depths of space and time.
Three centuries later, humanity takes its first tentative steps into the wider galaxy. Two starship captains confront an ancient enemy, while on a distant water world, a family of human observers sets events in motion that will alter the course of history.
By the 31st century, humans, Starchildren, and a fiercely independent artificial intelligence uncover the darkest secrets of existence itself, standing at the crossroads between extinction and rebirth. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance.
Three timelines. One destiny.
The author, Vassil Vassilev, was born in Bulgaria in 1979, grew up in Germany, and has lived in Switzerland for over 25 years. He vividly remembers his first introduction to science fiction through David Brin’s Uplift trilogy. From that moment on, there was no turning back. From the Foundation trilogy to Dune and Dan Simmons’ Hyperion Cantos, science fiction and space opera have been part of his leisure time and reading life since childhood.
Today, Vassil shares his love of fantastic films and video games with his son, and there are a few lightsabers to be found in his cozy home. He also surrounds himself with books professionally. He studied law and history at the University of Bern and works as a librarian. Fascinated by how knowledge of the past shapes the present and the future, he remains a dreamer and a child at heart, imagining who might be looking back when he gazes into space on starry nights. The historian in him then invents the appropriate background stories.
Our narrator, Damon Abdallah, has performed over 120 audiobooks. His professional experience includes stage and film acting, playwriting, screenwriting, storyboard art, and music. In 2019, he made his debut as a comic book writer and artist. He is the proud father of two wonderful children and loves any opportunity he gets to “do the voices”.
I will return soon with a full review of Evolutionary Rupture, but until then, take care, stay safe, and don’t forget, always listen with your heart.
