Hello again, dear audiobook friends! Today’s Audiobook Spotlight article is dedicated to Death in the Diamond Lane, a recently released and, I dare say, quite promising thriller written by the former Palo Alto limo driver turned successful writer, Pete O’Donnell. The audiobook version of Death in the Diamond Lane is performed by the multi-award-winning narrator, actor, and voice artist Scott Brick. Yes, I am talking here about the man, the myth, the legend that brought us over 1,000 audiobooks in his distinguished career. Having him as the narrator ensures both that you are in for a treat as an audiobook listener, but also that the novel will be immersive and entertaining.

Those who follow my blog know that he is one of my favorite narrators, and I am always delighted to review works narrated by him. The audio production is around seven hours and a half in duration, and I can confirm that after listening to almost one hour, I’m completely hooked.

Below you can read the Publisher’s Summary for Death in the Diamond Lane, if you want to know more about the story, and after that, I will tell you about our new author and, of course, about Scott Brick.

Mrs. E.J. DeLong is found nowhere on the World Wide Web. She also keeps to herself in person and flies private once a week from the Silicon Valley to a dirt airstrip in a remote corner of Utah. I’ve been picking her up and dropping her off at San Francisco International Airport for four years now.  How she caught the attention of my other passengers – all high-octane tech types – only became clear after somebody tried to kill me – for the third time.

From patent trolls and VC’s, to the FBI and the Red Chinese, everyone’s in a bloody hurry to get their hands on the next big thing.  And all they had to do was ask their driver – the insider no one notices.

For seven years Pete O’Donnell was a limousine driver based in Palo Alto, California. The characters and events described in Death in the Diamond Lane are fictional. But the stuff he overheard in the car makes you wonder.

Scott Brick has recorded bestsellers and Pulitzer-prize winners for every major publisher, over 1,100 titles, in every conceivable category. in addition to over 60 earphones awards and two Grammy nominations, he’s also received eight Audie awards. Scott is both an Audiofile Magazine golden voice and an inaugural member of the Audible narrator hall of fame, and his work has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and Entertainment Weekly, and Publisher’s Weekly has twice named him their audiobook narrator of the year.

You can hear Scott narrate such titles as Jurassic Park, Alexander Hamilton, The Jack Reacher Series, In Cold Blood, The Passage Trilogy, Atlas Shrugged, The Hunt for Red October, Helter Skelter, Fahrenheit 451 and the Dune Saga. In 2015 Scott began teaching the nation’s first fully-accredited university course in audiobook narration at UCLA, and also offers coaching for professional and aspiring narrators through his audiobook insider workshop series as well as private sessions. For more info, visit www.scottbrick.com or www.brickbybrickaudiobooks.com.

I will return with a full review for Death in the Diamond Lane in late February, but until then take care, stay safe and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!
