Review: A Path Amongst The Stars by Mike Duckles, narrated by Malk Williams
A Path Amongst The Stars is the young adult fantasy debut novel from British author Mike Duckles. I’m always more than happy to experience these tales aimed at a younger audience and I think that A Path Amongst The Stars is perfectly suited for teenagers searching for a new world to explore, especially now with this captivating audiobook version available.
The story follows a young Knights Templar and his friends through a journey filled with perils and mysteries in the far, ancient, and magical world of Arcadia. For the almost 11 hours of this audio production, the listener will take part in heroic adventures alongside some of the most endearing and colorful characters in recent memory.
I don’t want to get into more detail because I try not to spoil the experience for anyone, but I can confirm that this is a well written, captivating, entertaining, and amusing tale that will keep young readers or listeners on the edge of their seat, eagerly awaiting to see what’s next.
Professional voice artist and audiobook narrator Malk Williams uses his versatile voice to great success. He delivers a balanced performance, switching seamlessly between narration and the different characters, assigning each of them credible and natural voices or accents. I really enjoyed his approach for A Path Amongst The Stars and I think that he did a great job of bringing to life this magical story.
I hope that A Path Amongst The Stars is a first book in a new series and I highly recommend it to teenagers and adults alike. It feels fresh, original and I especially loved the imaginative names bestowed upon the characters.
