Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to Melita’s Fresh Start, a promising Amish Romance written by Brenda Maxfield.

The audio production is a little over 5 hours and a half in duration and it is performed by talented narrator Trudi Knoedler. This is definitely not my first audiobook with Trudi Knoedler behind the mic, and I am always looking forward to her performance because she manages to bring any story  to life in a pleasant and entertaining way.

Let’s take a look at the Publisher’s Summary in order to find out some details about the story, and after that I will introduce you to our narrator and author.

Melita Otto wants more than anything to get away. She’s not fond of the beau her aunt and uncle are pushing on her, nor is she fond of her routine life. But she has no idea what she’s getting into when she takes the job as housekeeper for three brothers who run an Amish horse farm.

Within days, she’s captivated by the horses. But it isn’t only the horses who captivate her. The taciturn eldest brother, Joel Raber, captures her heart.

Things become complicated when Melita’s former beau shows up. She fears Joel will think she’s already taken. But when the brothers’ parents return and her services are no longer needed, it appears Melita is about to lose everything she’s fallen in love with—is there any way she can stay? And is there any way Joel will ever see her as more than an employee?

Brenda Maxfield started writing as a child, stories of fairy princesses and talking animals. She has since set them aside to write Amish romances, reflecting the Amish and Mennonite communities of the United States. Her stories reveal the day-to-day lifestyles of individuals in this population, along with their heartaches and triumphs, and always with a bit of romance thrown in, to complicate matters. Her objective is always to offer the reader a good, clean read with high moral values.

When not writing, Brenda is a high school teacher. She has lived in Honduras, Grand Cayman, and Costa Rica, and presently resides with her husband, Paul in Indiana, not far from the Amish communities there.

Trudi Knoedler has been a voice actress since 2015, doing primarily audiobooks using many characters and accents for fiction, and straight, personal and intelligent delivery for non-fiction. She has produced 21 audiobooks during the past 7 years and is also a VO actress.

Although she is most often cast to do historical fiction or suspense, GOING BACK HOME was of particular interest to her because her family were Germans from Romania whose old-fashioned style of German speech is not too far removed from Amish. When not producing audiobooks, she enjoys the role of “Oma” to her two spirited granddaughters.

I will return probably next month with a full review for Melita’s Fresh Start, but until then, take care, stay safe and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!

We hope that you enjoyed this article and, if you did, that you will share it with your friends on social media.
