Review: Two O’Clock Heist, Rebecca Mayfield Mysteries, book 2, by Joanne Pence
Two O’Clock Heist is the second book in the Rebecca Mayfield series of romantic mysteries written beautifully and expertly by USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Joanne Pence. After enjoying One O’Clock Hustle, the first book in this captivating and promising series last month, I found myself thinking about these characters and thus I picked up this second thrilling adventure.
In Two O’Clock Heist, we follow once again homicide detective Rebecca Mayfield and her good-looking, well groomed on and off love interest, Richie Amalfi. As we well know from the previous book, Rebecca is a by-the-book cop and Richie seems to be quite connected and in love head over heels with her. Once again, they team up in order to find out what happened when a former colleague of Rebecca‘s is found dead in a rich neighborhood.
Dark secrets, Russian mobsters, a thorough but extremely dangerous investigation, and unexpected situations find our two protagonists fighting for their lives.
The excellent and vivid writing and fast-paced action are amazingly matched by a superb performance delivered by respected and talented voiceover artist Kristi Burns. Reading in a clear and pleasant voice, tapping her significant skills in order to deliver a balanced performance, she is just perfect for this kind of cozy, funny, and romantic mystery.
Once again Joanne Pence has written another thrilling and captivating story filled with characters that feel alive and driven by a compelling plot. I was completely immersed in this story for the six hours of the audio production and I can’t wait to dive right back into the lives of Rebecca and Richie with the next novel in the series.
I am highly recommending these audiobooks to all those who are looking for a good time and want to cuddle up with a cozy romantic murder mystery.
