New political thriller Affairs of State by C.A. James, available now as audiobook performed by award-winning actor Timothy Andrés Pabon

Hello again, dear audiobooks friends. Today’s spotlight article is dedicated to Affairs of State, a brand new political thriller audiobook written by C.A. James. With the e-book and paperback versions of Affairs of State is receiving hundreds of five-star ratings and dozens of great reviews, so I’m sure audiobook listeners will be in for a treat.
The audio production is one minute under 10 hours and a half in duration and it is performed by award-winning narrator and actor Timothy Pabon. I love political thrillers, I’m a huge fan of literary giants like Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, so I am quite interested in checking out Affairs of State.
Below I will introduce you to our author and narrator, but first I suggest we take a quick look at the book “blurb” for Affairs of State: A Political Thriller:
The President of the United States needs to kill the First Lady’s secret lover … and it’s not about sex.
First Lady Elizabeth Caen is shocked at what she just overheard: the President of the United States conspiring to assassinate a Supreme Court justice. She must do something … but what? With no hard evidence, her word won’t stand against that of her powerful husband.
She’s forced to turn to the only man she can trust: her secret lover Owen, a respected Silicon Valley computer guru. What Elizabeth doesn’t know is that by night, Owen transforms into a criminal hacker extraordinaire, making millions taking down corporations by exposing their dirty secrets. No computer is safe from him. Not even the president’s.
But what Owen digs up is far more shocking than they could have imagined. Powerful forces are unleashed to stop Owen and Elizabeth. Will a daring escape to sea on Owen’s high-tech sailboat give them enough time to expose the murderous conspiracy?
The author, C.A. James, started his professional career as a college dropout at the age of seventeen. Four years as a sailing instructor, boatbuilder, machinist, and carpenter taught him the value of craftsmanship, the satisfaction that comes from quality work, and what it means to have real responsibilities. He also figured out that laboring in the hot sun can make college seem quite attractive.
Born and raised in California, James graduated from UC Davis with a degree in electrical engineering, and some years later earned his master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. It was while at Stanford studying artificial intelligence, linguistics, and philosophy that James got his first inspiration to write a book.
In addition to his writing, James is an accomplished amateur guitarist, a tolerable clarinet player, a deep-sea sailor, and father of three. In his spare time he enjoys sailing, hiking, and bicycling in the beautiful mountains and beaches of Northern California.
Our narrator, Timothy Andrés Pabon, is an actor and Spanish & English voice-over artist/audiobook narrator from Washington DC. He has over 500 books on Audible.com, received seven Earphone Awards, and has been nominated for the prestigious Audie and SOVAS Awards. His voice-over clients include Gabrielle Giffords, Hillary Clinton, The Sierra Club, NBC, and the 10-episode series Chasing Che on National Geographic.
He has been seen on House of Cards as Mark, a White house press correspondent, and costarred on HBO’s acclaimed series The Wire opposite. As a stage actor, he has worked Off-Broadway at the June Havoc Theatre, and his regional credits include Center Stage, the Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, The Hippodrome, Olney Theatre, Rep Stage, and GALA Hispanic Theatre. Tim is a proud father of two children, and a member of AFTRA/SAG and Actor’s Equity.
I will return with a full review for Affairs of State very soon, but until then, take care, stay safe and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!
