Audiobook Review: Ancient Illusions by Joanne Pence
Ancient Illusions is the third book in the Ancient Secrets Series of paranormal mysteries by best-selling author Joanne Pence and after I reviewed the previous two, Ancient Echos and Ancient Shadows in the last two months, I was really curious to see what new adventures awaits our hero, renowned archeologist Michael Rempart.
After a short visit to his childhood home, where he gets back in touch with his estranged father, Michael feels the need to travel as far away as possible, but not before he discovers a few things that will change his life.
Best-selling author Joanne Pence delivers another thrilling adventure, filled with lifelike characters, a great main location and her scariest story so far. It is a great thing to observe how both author and narrator are getting better and better at this thing with every audiobook released. In Ancient Illusions we learn so much more about Michael, his past, his family and his fears, while at the same time all the important characters are getting the deserved attention from the author.
Actor, voice-over artist and narrator Tim Paige returns once again and brings Michael and everyone else in Ancient Illusions to life with his talent and dedication.
He delivers another excellent performance, switching between voices with ease, keeping the characters well differentiated in the listener’s mind. Now he is a an old man, now a sick child, now a honourable woman, now a nightmarish creature, ready to eat your heart while you are alive.
Tim Paige is great for this series and I hope to listen to him again performing any upcoming audiobooks. Ancient Illusions is 9 hours and 39 minutes in duration, there were no problems with the recording and the overall quality is very good.
The Ancient Secrets Series by Joanne pence should satisfy the need for adventure of any and all fans of Clive Cussler, James Rollins or Steve Berry. Ancient Illusions is the best book so far and I can’t wait for this author to write more great novels…
