Doug Richardson releases Blood Money, a Lucky Dey Thriller as Audiobook
Hello again, dear Audiobooks Fans! I am really glad to let you all know that Doug Richardson has released this month three books in his Lucky Dey Series of Thrillers in Audiobook Format.
The first one is Blood Money and after I listened to more than two hours this morning I can say without a doubt that this is a series I’ll enjoy tremendously.
I am always on the lookout for authors with writing styles similar to Michael Connelly or Robert Crais and I think that Doug Richardson delivers such a narrative experience.
The Publisher’s Summary for Blood Money gives us the following insight into the story:
When deputy Lucky Dey discovers his little brother has been murdered, he’ll stop at nothing until he takes down the cop-killer.
Hell-bent on getting answers, he disobeys his superiors and follows the trail of a killer, who’s driving a hijacked truck full of illegal contraband.
Lucky finds himself in L.A., trapped in a storm of media and political indifference. The entire city is whirling in the wake of a major star’s fatal accident and people want a story – a story that might be more tangled than anyone ever imagined. With peril and mayhem around every corner, the risk-addicted cop might not be so lucky this time around.
Both the author and the narrator of this series are some really cool people and I’ll add below their bios for you to take a look at.
Doug Richardson cut his teeth writing movies like DIE HARD 2, BAD BOYS, and HOSTAGE. But scratch the surface and discover he thinks there’s a killer inside all of us.
His Lucky Dey books exist between the gutter and the glitter of a morally suspect landscape he calls Luckyland–aka Los Angeles–the city of Doug’s birth and where he lives with his wife, two children, four big mutts, and the dead body he’s still semi-convinced is buried in his San Fernando Valley back yard.
:The narrator is Tim DeKay and he has a wide range of work in film, television and theater. For six seasons, he starred as “Peter Burke” in White Collar on USA. Additional television work includes Here and Now (HBO), Tell Me You Love Me (HBO, 2007 AFI Award), Carnivale (HBO), American Crime(ABC) and many others.
His films include Best Man Wins, Get Smart, Peaceful Warrior, Big Eden, Swordfish, and others. His stage work covers Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tours.
I’ll post a review for Blood Money next week, but until than I need to tell you this. After 5 minutes with Blood Money, written by Doug Richardson and performed by Tim Dekay I was completely immersed and could have sworn that I was listening to a dark mystery / police procedural by Michael Connelly or Lee Child, read by the great Dick Hill. I’ll add this to the review as well, because since Dick has retired from the Audiobook Industry about two years ago, I was hoping for a new voice to rise up in his place for this kind of thrillers and Tim DeKay has a chance to do that…
