New Legal Thriller Automatic Stay by Mark Shaiken out now as audiobook, narrated by Jimmy Moreland
Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today’s audiobook Spotlight article is dedicated to the new legal thriller Automatic Stay by Mark Shaiken.
Automatic Stay is the second book in the 3J Mysteries, starring Kansas City lawyer Josephina Jillian Jones. The audiobook is narrated by Jimmy Moreland, has a run time of almost 12 and a half hours, and it is self-published by the author.
As you well know, I’m always up for a good mystery/legal thriller, and I absolutely love jazz, I am currently listening to a quiet tune, beautifully performed by Scott Hamilton, while I am writing this spotlight, so I’m very excited to discover this literary work.
Let’s find out more about the story from the Publisher’s Summary, and after that, I will help you make the acquaintance of our author and narrator.
3J and Pascale are back and file bankruptcy cases for six Kansas City jazz clubs that have somehow managed to survive the COVID pandemic.
Now they must battle an unknown enemy who runs an anonymous disinformation campaign on social media to try to put the clubs out of business.
Will they be able to stop the campaign in time to save the clubs and keep jazz alive in the city?
Mark Shaiken lives with his wife Loren and their dog Emily in Denver, Colorado. He schooled at Haverford College and Washburn University, and practiced commercial bankruptcy law for several decades before moving on in 2019 to write, volunteer and play music.
In addition to “Automatic Stay,” he is the author of “And . . Just Like That – essays on a life before, during, and after the law” and “Fresh Start,” a legal thriller and the first in his 3J series. He has begun work on the third in the 3J series, “Unfair Discrimination.” Connect with Mark at markshaikenauthor.com.
Jimmy Moreland is an audiobook narrator and this is the heartfelt self-introduction from his website:
I came to this wonderful career mainly thanks to my military service. I was a “broadcast journalist” in the US Air Force – part radio DJ, part television producer. Think Good Morning Vietnam meets Anchorman. My job was loads of fun, but it did have its serious times.
I was stationed in quiet northern Japan when the 2011 earthquake and tsunami struck. I spent most of 2012 in Afghanistan. These experiences were scary at times, but I am grateful to have come through them in one piece with great friends and memories. In 2013, I came home to Texas, and used the GI Bill to earn a BA in Communications at the University of Houston and an MBA at Rice University. When I’m not working on an audiobook, I’m most likely playing or recording music, or spending time with my wonderful partner at our home in west Houston.
