Barriers: A Dystopian Thriller by Patrick Skelton is out now in Audiobook Format
Hello again, dear Audiobooks Fans! I bring news of a new audiobook that was brought to my attention. This time it is a freshly released Sci-Fi Thriller, named Barriers: A Dystopian Thriller available now from Audible and other retailers. The author and publisher is Patrick Skelton, the production is 7 hours and 31 minutes and the narrator is Anthony Lee.
For Nathan Gallagher, life on post-solar flare Earth just took a turn for the worse.
In the near future, barrier domes shield Earth’s wealthiest cities from catastrophic solar flares, but only the healthy elite are granted protection. Those who are unable to prove their ability to work are sent to live in the sanctuaries – camps outside the barrier domes where residents have little to no protection from flares. It’s brutal living there.
Nathan Gallagher is one of the lucky ones who lives inside a barrier. But his luck runs out when his adopted son suffers a paralyzing accident. He’s taken from his parents and sent to the sanctuaries where it’s only a matter of time before they kill him.
With only days until another flare is due to strike Earth’s sanctuary cities, not only does his son’s life hang in the balance but also the fate of a quarter billion people.
Patrick Skelton resides in Columbus, OH. His debut novel, Barriers, was released in January of 2019. On the surface, it’s a dystopian novel about solar flares and a father trying to rescue his son from being euthanized in the badlands. Below the surface, however, it’s a heartfelt, but scary story about the sanctity of life.
Barriers will be a trilogy and two more releases are scheduled for publication in the coming months.
As I mentioned above, the narrator of Barriers is Anthony Lee. A native of California, Anthony grew up with an equal fascination for knowledge and leisure. He would enjoy studying various subjects in school as well as doing fun things in his spare time. His motivation for success and happiness helped him achieve a solid education, a successful job, and a new life to live as his reward for years of hard work.
Anthony Lee has been told that his voice is deep, resonant, smooth, and clear. Yet, it would be years before he would finally embrace that gift and start using it artistically.
His decision to try voice acting came after receiving plenty of compliments about his vocal quality over a short amount of time. Whether those words came from friends or strangers, he could no longer deny the possibility that there may be something special about his voice.
Hence, from October 2015 to June 2016, Anthony enrolled in night and weekend classes at Elaine Clark’s Voice One academy in San Francisco, where he trained in the art of voiceover for narrations, commercials, and characters. He thoroughly enjoyed honing his voice for things like audiobooks, technical materials, corporate narrations, e-learning modules, documentaries, commercials, promos, animations, video games, and talking products. Overall, he considers his journey into voiceover to be very rewarding, not just for what he learned but also for the great instructors and classmates he met along the way.
When he is not doing voice work, Anthony enjoys playing chess, ice hockey, pool, Sudoku, and video games, as well as watching movies, reading about random topics on the Internet, and traveling. He lives in Northern California.
You can get in touch with Anthony on his Website at anthonyleevoice.com and on Twitter, @AnthonyLeeVoice.
I will post a review in the coming weeks.
