Review: American Bang by Doug Richardson, read by Tim DeKay
American Bang is the 4th book in the Lucky Dey Series of Mystery Thrillers by Doug Richardson and it was released in audiobook format late this May, almost 4 years after its original publication.
For those who don’t know, Doug Richardson has written in the past such movies as Die Hard 2, Bad Boys and Hostage, so you can bet that he knows how to tell an entertaining story and this is exactly what he does with American Bang.
The story follows series protagonist, Lucky Dey, a troubled member of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department as he tries to navigate his complicated relationships with a girlfriend working as a chopper pilot for the LAPD, an adopted teenage daughter and a potential stepson. As if he didn’t have enough on his plate, Lucky is pulled into an investigation that has to do with a freak car accident, but after he checks the cameras around the scene, he discovers some new evidence, evidence that will put him and his family in harm’s way.
Well written, fast-paced, intriguing and driven by believable characters, American Bang is another great mystery thriller set in the City of Angels.
Renowned actor and now rising narrator Tim DeKay returns once again to this series and brings all the characters, locations and events portrayed in American Bang to life with a performance that perfectly captures the listener’s attention. Mr. DeKay delivers an immersive experience and I am really glad to have him as the narrator of choice for the Lucky Dey Series.
Tim DeKay‘s voice and narration style are reminiscent of those of now retired – legendary audiobook narrator Dick Hill, but at the same time he brings to the table his own originality and talent, which helps him become an instant hit with all audiobooks lovers.
After listening to American Bang, I can’t wait to get my ears on book 5 in this extremely entertaining series!
I also post reviews or articles at the author, narrator, or publisher’s request, so, if you are in need of assistance in finding the perfect narrator for your book or just want to have a review on my blog, do get in touch.
