Elin Willows’ popular Literary Fiction debut novel Inlands springs to life in 1 million colors in the listener’s mind thanks to a fantastic performance by multiple award-winning voiceover artist and extremely talented narrator Ann Marie Arvdal Richardson!

The writing is powerful, poetic, beautiful, atmospheric, and deeply personal. This is the captivating and emotional story of a young woman who leaves Stockholm in order to join her boyfriend at the edge of the Arctic Circle.

But once she arrives there, both of them realize that the relationship won’t work and they decide to end it. What follows is a quiet, introspective, and thought-provoking journey showing our young protagonist as she searches for her identity, and adapts to her new surroundings, the people, and of course, the completely new way of life in a small, secluded and quiet village.

Inlands is a poignant tale that shows us how an individual can embark on a journey of self-exploration while at the same time trying to tackle isolation, loneliness, freedom and identity in the ever-changing and alternating endless sunlight and freezing cold of the Swedish seasons.

Ann Marie Arvdal Richardson does a fantastic job with the narration! She reads in a soft, quiet timid, and pleasant voice, she perfectly captures the emotional state of our character and creates a level of complete immersion for the listener by accurately and flawlessly pronouncing all the Swedish names of both individuals and places.

I know that Ann is half-Swedish and her heritage is put to good use for this recording. Inlands is definitely not my first audiobook narrated by Ann and I can say without any doubt that I love her voice and that she is a very talented narrator.

I really enjoyed the four hours spent with this audio production, even more so because I moved with my wife to Oslo last year and there are a lot of things in common between these two neighboring Nordic countries. I look forward to any new books from this author and of course, audiobooks narrated by Ann.
