Review: Kingdom of Acatalec by S.M. McCoy
Kingdom of Acatalec is a captivating Sci-fi Fantasy Adventure Romance audiobook from award-winning author S.M. McCoy.
This is the first book in The Acatalec Series, and it is narrated by the author, who is also a professional narrator recording under the name Stevie Marie.
I always find it fascinating when an author records their own work because they are giving the listeners unique insights into the story, the characters, and, of course, into the universe they created. The fact that Kingdom of Acatalec is narrated, recorded, and produced by the author who also turned out to be quite a talented narrator only enriched the already more than enjoyable listening experience.
I was pleasantly surprised by Kingdom of Acatalec – the writing is good, the action moves fast, the characters are colorful, and we even have a proper representation of a disabled individual…
I really don’t want to spoil any of the plot lines for you, but I can say that if you like novels that seamlessly and successfully combine science fiction with fantasy, plus a cyberpunk atmosphere, full of drones, aliens, illegal races, high-end technology such as implants and robotics, you should definitely give a chance to this audiobook.
As I said above, the narration offers a lot of additional information about the characters and the feelings that they are living. Thanks to the involvement of the author with this audio production, S.M. McCoy, a.k.a. Stevie Marie, delivers a quiet, balanced, and entertaining performance. She reads softly, she infuses the events with emotion just at the right time, and she brings these characters to life in a natural and credible manner.
If you are into this kind of adventure, I’m sure that you will be delighted by this first tale in the Acatalec universe. As always, I encourage you to listen to the available sample, and if you like what you hear, purchase the audiobook.
I’m really curious to see where this story is going next and hope to be able to bring you more reviews in the future.
We hope that you enjoyed this article and, if you did, that you will share it with your friends on social media.
I also post reviews or articles at the author, narrator, or publisher’s request, so, if you are in need of assistance in finding the perfect narrator for your book or just want to have a review on my blog, do get in touch.
