Review: Sons of War by Nicholas Sansbury Smith, read by Ray Porter
I picked up Sons of War by Nicholas Sansbury Smith because it is narrated by the great Ray Porter. He is one of my favorite narrators of all times and the fact that he is performing the audiobook was reason enough for me.
But, just a few minutes in, I realized that Nicholas Sansbury Smith is a great action author that writes beautifully entertaining stories. I absolutely loved all the characters in Sons of War, each of them feel real, alive and with faults slipping through the cracks, so they appear even more human to the listener. From a Mafia Don, to a trio of teenagers and to a team of highly trained special ops Marines, we see how they react when their world is going to hell in a hand-basket.
As I was sure that he would, Ray Porter is the perfect narrator to bring all the characters and events in Sons of War to life. He reads, he acts, and he infuses the intense action of the story with talent, passion, giving it a soul!
I listened to Sons of War day and night, I was immersed completely into the story and I can’t wait for book 2 in the series.
If you want well-written action, strong characters and a plot that moves along at breakneck speeds, this is the book for you!
