Mr. Alexander McCall Smith is one of the most talented authors in the world and his The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series of mystery books is absolutely fantastic. Also fantastic is this wonderful adaptation from BBC. Close your eyes and step into a world filled with mystery, lady Detectives and a lot of good vibes.
Included in this audio production are 35 stories from the acclaimed and immersive BBC radio series written and adapted by Alexander McCall Smith himself from his own internationally bestselling and award-winning books.

Of course, he continues to write new novels all the time, so I am hopeful to see this show returning soon. These charming dramatizations are brought to life with vibrant, feel good and evocative African music and a fantastic cast. We will spend most of our time in the company of talented actors like Claire Benedict and Janice Acquah as Mma Ramotswe, Nadine Marshall as Mma Makutsi and Joseph Marcell and Ben Onwukwe as Mr JLB Matekoni.

The stories follow Precious Ramotswe after she decides to set up Botswana’s very first private detective agency—’for the problems of ladies, and others’. With the money left from the inheritance from her father, helped by the loyal, resourceful Grace Makutsi, and multiple cups of red bush tea, our ladies Detective set out to investigate the most peculiar cases.

For those of you who are familiar with the HBO original series that was canceled after just one season, a huge mistake in my humble opinion, you will be able to find out what happened with our beloved characters. Also, I highly recommend that you check out the individual audiobooks because they are absolutely fantastic.
From the happy and uplifting songs of Botswana’s children, to Mma Ramotswe daily anecdotes and life lessons, these exquisitely dramatized stories will introduce the listener to Botswana’s culture and at the same time bring to life unforgettable characters.

If you like cozy mysteries filled with humor and wit, then this is the audio collection for you! Pick it up, trust me, you will not regret it! You can listen to it alone, with the entire family, episode by episode, season by season or binge it all at once. Satisfaction is guaranteed!
