Award-winning science-fiction novel Bud by the Grace of God by S.E. Sasaki is available now as audiobook narrated by Marc Leclerc
Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! In today’s spotlight article I want to introduce you all to Bud by the Grace of God, it just received a Global Book Awards 2022 Gold Medal in the Science Fiction: Space Exploration category.
Written by family physician, author, visual artist, and self-proclaimed, accident-prone, walking calamity S.E. Sasaki, this thriller should delight and entertain both fans of medical dramas and sci-fi alike.
This is the second book in the medical science fiction thriller series The Grace Lord about a deadly virus on a medical space station. Interesting is the fact that this adventure has been started long before anyone had ever heard of Covid.
The audiobook version of this extremely promising science-fiction novel has been recently released and the audio production is performed by theater actor, voiceover artist, and audiobook narrator Marc Leclerc. It’s almost 11 hours and a half in length, it is produced by Benjamin David Rawls of B. Rawls Music and it’s self-published by the author.
I suggest that we take a look at the Publisher’s Summary in order to find out more about the story and after that, I’ll do my best to introduce you to our esteemed author and narrator.
“Medicine. Murder. Mayhem. Not what one expects to find on the Conglomerate’s Premier Medical Space Station, the Nelson Mandela. When a homicidal ghost, a genocidal general, and a terrifying plant alien all land on the medical station at the same time, the bodies begin to pile up.
Hardworking, diligent Dr. Grace Lord is devastated when she witnesses her constant companion, the android Bud, destroyed by a pulse rifle blast before her eyes.
When the conniving Dr. Jeffrey Nestor programs the Nelson Mandela to self-destruct and then kidnaps Grace, locking her inside a cryopod, Grace struggles with despair. Can she still save everyone she loves before the entire station is destroyed?”

“Sasaki displays a propulsive inventiveness as she weaves grand ideas with humour and soul. Both a paean to the sci-fi genre and a captivating return to a space station in a complex universe.” (Kirkus Reviews Magazine)
Sharon is a Japanese Canadian family physician with a B.Sc. in Biology, an M. Sc. in Neurophysiology, and an MD from the University of Toronto, author, visual artist, and accident-prone walking calamity, who is probably safer writing than doing the sports she used to do like ice hockey, cross-country skiing, whitewater kayaking, running, and horseback riding.
When Sharon is not writing, she is assisting in surgery in the operating room, working on emergency and elective procedures.
Sharon was approached by two different Hollywood movie producers about turning the first book in The Grace Lord Series, Welcome to the Madhouse, into a movie but then the CoVid virus became a reality and the concept was dropped.
I’ve asked Sharon to tell us more about the inspiration behind the series and of course, about herself. Here is what she said:
“The concept of the medical space station in Welcome to the Madhouse and The Grace Lord Series was borne from my experiences in the hospital and operating room. There has never been a dull moment in all my years working as a physician. I wanted to convey the suspense of never knowing what was going to come in the front door and how situations can become dire very fast. I also wanted to share the camaraderie between colleagues that exists in the OR with you. I hope I have achieved that.
When I’m not assisting in surgery or writing the next book, I love to paint and create collages. My collages have won awards at the World Fantasy Convention and Ad Astra. You can see my dragons on my website.
I love to travel, scuba dive, downhill ski, kayak, play tennis, ride horses, and I’ve even ridden an ostrich, once. I have two Maine Coon cats and an Akbash puppy who keep me and my husband hopping, ever since our two children grew up (far too fast).”
Marc Leclerc is an actor living in Los Angeles. He has recorded Welcome to the Madhouse by S.E. Sasaki and has returned to narrate Bud by the Grace of God.
Marc’s most recent theatre credits include Eros in Argonautika, Ghost of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol, Jose in Man of La Mancha, and Fluellen in Henry V at A Noise Within. At the Loft Ensemble Marc has played Branwell Bronte in Branwell and the Other Brontes, Eric Harris in The Columbine Project, Peter Pan in Now or Neverland, and Ricky in School for Wayward Girls. He is also an award-winning fight choreographer who has most recently coordinated the music video for Are You ready by Disturbed.
I am a huge fan of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, so you can imagine that I can’t wait to dive into this award-winning adventure. I’ll be sure to return soon with a full review, but until then, take care, stay safe, and don’t forget, always listen with your heart!
We hope that you enjoyed this article and, if you did, that you will share it with your friends on social media.
I also post reviews or articles at the author, narrator, or publisher’s request, so, if you are in need of assistance in finding the perfect narrator for your book or just want to have a review on my blog, do get in touch.
