The entire Brink of Life trilogy by Rick Moskovitz has just been released in audiobook format
Hello again, dear audiobooks friends! Today, I am really glad to let you all know that the entire Brink of Life trilogy by former clinical psychiatrist, turned talented author, Rick Moskovitz, is now available in audiobook format on Audible and Amazon.
The trilogy has been released in three compelling sci-fi thriller standalone novels. Book number one is A Stand-in for Dying, book number two is called Brink of Life and book number three is named The Creators.
Rick Moskovitz is a Harvard educated psychiatrist who taught psychotherapy and spent nearly four decades listening to his patients tell their stories. After leaving practice, he, in turn, became a storyteller, writing science fiction that explores the psychological consequences of living in a world of expanding possibilities, including even the prospect of evading death.
His Brink of Life Trilogy begins with the quest for immortality in the mid-21st century and concludes with a search for the origin of human life. His characters deal with enduring moral and emotional struggles against a backdrop of a near future world that is still dealing with environmental crises as it navigates the intersection of human and artificial intelligence.
A Stand-in for Dying is performed by Joe Smith and the other two in this saga are brought to life by . The duration of each audiobook ranges from a little under five hours to almost 8 hours, so if you get all three of them, you will be treated to more than 18 hours of high quality sci-fi adventures. As you may know, I have already reviewed Brink of Life, book number two, a few weeks ago and I loved it. Now, I’m glad I can unravel the entire mystery surrounding it.
Below you can find the synopsis for each of them and before we move on, I can tell you that the entire trilogy has received favorable reviews before its availability in audio.
In a near future world on the brink of environmental catastrophe, a mysterious woman brokers an anonymous pact between two men for the older man to inhabit the younger man’s body when he dies in exchange for a fortune and access to vast knowledge.
The consequences for both men evolve over the ensuing years, while the covert agency behind the mind swapping technology seeks to use it to rule the world. Their moral and emotional development is informed by the resourceful women who love them, one an accomplished journalist, the other a teacher who guides AI’s to feel emotions and advocates for them to have equal rights with carbon-based humans.
A woman plunges into consciousness in the midst of what seems like someone else’s life, sending her on a quest to discover who she is and to craft an identity that makes sense within her current circumstances. As she digs into the mystery of her life, she uncovers a top-secret government organization plotting world domination and a clandestine vigilante organization dedicated to destroying it and is caught between these warring factions.
Nobody in her new world is exactly who they appear to be, including herself. Identity, she learns, is complicated and inseparable from the body in which it resides.
A teenaged Natasha Takana seeks to decode the remainder of the hidden DNA code that became the basis for a new religion reviving creationism in A Stand-in for Dying, the second book of the trilogy. Her quest takes her on a voyage to a parallel dimension to learn the fate of the creators’ civilization.
The conflict between the warring factions, first presented in the second book of the trilogy called Brink of Life, is rekindled, sweeping Natasha into the middle of it in a pursuit that crosses the boundaries of worlds and time.
Joe Smith, who narrates A Stand-in for Dying, has been a professional working actor and writer for 25 years (not constantly – this includes sleeping and eating). He grew up in Worcester, MA where his parents founded and ran the Worcester Foothills Theatre Company. In Boston and now in Los Angeles, Joe has worked in theatre, film, TV, voice-over, commercials, storytelling/stand-up, live events, and in most other corners of show biz, plus one eulogy.
He created the public radio parody IPR : Irrational Public Radio. He is a member of the performers unions SAG/AFTRA and AEA. He has taught acting and been guest lecturer at Clark University and Orange County School of the Arts. He plays blues harmonica, was on Wheel of Fortune, and once built a pretty decent shoe bench. He is married to a gorgeous and strange California girl named Amy. They grow fruit and have cats. You can find more about him on his website, JoeSmith.com.
As I said above, Brink of Life and The Creators are performed by Amy J. Johnson. She is a bit of an introvert, and the decision to work in the audiobooks industry was a natural extension of her acting background. Her dad (a truck driver and an avid reader) is picky about his narrators, giving her incentive to keep honing her skills and be the kind of storyteller he would enjoy . . . even if he’s not into romance novels.
Amy is a member of the APA (Audiobook Publishers Association), has an in-home studio, has been working with the non-fiction/business guru, Sean Pratt, as a coach in 2020, and has narrated around 40 titles in various genres with a few different publishers. Amy’s full name is quite common, so she started narrating under Carolyn A. Lee. While she hasn’t retired the name or website yet, she may continue to use Carolyn for YA books in the future.
If you are curious to find out more about Mr. Moskovitz, note that has a strong presence on social media, and you can find him on the following channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Goodreads, YouTube.
