Review: Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline, read by Wil Wheaton
After the immense success of Ready Player One, including the blockbuster adaptation from renowned director Steven Spielberg, author Ernest Cline brings us the sequel, the next episode, the evolution in what has quickly become a highly recommended read or listen for everyone who was a kid in the ’80s.
Picking up right where Ready Player One ended, Ready Player Two takes us into another adventure filled with mysteries, discoveries, secrets and a lot of pop fiction lore.
As one who loves video games and Star Trek, it was a delightful pleasure to see Wil Wheaton return as the narrator of choice for this second novel in the extremely entertaining and best-selling series. He gives life to new and old fan favorite characters and delivers another fantastic performance, creating a completely immersive narrative experience for everyone involved.
The future is here and I can’t stop thinking that if we had access to all this advanced virtual reality tech during our damned pandemic, life would have been easier… Well written, fast-paced, unputdownable, amusing and deeply entertaining, Ready Player Two is the sequel we’ve all been waiting for.
