Why She Left Us by David Dennis released as Audiobook
Hi, dear Audiobooks Fans! As I do lately, I am really glad to let you all know that another interesting novel has been released in audiobook format. Why She Left Us by David Dennis is available now on Audible and I thought it would be nice to have it highlighted here as well.
We learn the following about Why She Left Us from the Publisher’s Summary:
An explosive family of three young sisters and their promiscuous mother descends into suicide and murder in this tragic tale told in five different characters’ points of view, chronicling a critical period of time in the lives of a tormented family of women and their men.
From his dedicated page on Audible we find out that David Dennis was born, raised, and educated in Providence, Rhode Island, and chose a career in teaching English in a neighboring city. Ever since he was in fifth grade, he’s enjoyed writing stories of one sort or another, and while attending college, he became immersed in the writing of a gigantic fictional family saga. Much later, he basically extracted one of the sub-plots of that family saga and expanded it into the present novel “Why She Left Us.”
In so doing, he also experimented with the timeline and utilized five different narrators, so that the story itself starts out rather hazily and gradually comes into focus, with the reader learning which narrators’ perceptions are to be trusted and which ones ought to be regarded with some skepticism. At the same time, while there are dramatic, and even tragic elements involved, the novel also contains a certain amount of humor, as well as some of the most lyrical and romantic writing David Dennis has ever produced
The audiobook version of Why She Left Us is performed by Natalie Eaton and Travis Henry Carter. Natalie was born and raised in Michigan and has been in and around the theatre for most of her life. She’s an alumna of Hope College, where she majored in Theatre & English and she has more than 25 audiobooks to her credit. Travis is primarily a voice-actor, but has also had roles in the Christian Bale movie “Hostiles” and in the Netflix series “Longmire” (among others). He is also the voice of Brett in the complete Brett Cornell comedy-mystery series that is available in audiobook format as well.
I am currently listening to Why She Left Us and will post a full review sometime next week to let you all know what my thoughts are about it.
