Review: A Killing Truth by D.V. Berkom, read by Kristi Alsip
A Killing Truth is a prequel novel in the award-winning Leine Basso series of high-octane thrillers by USA Today best-selling author D.V. Berkom. After reviewing Bad Traffick – book number two – a few years ago, I was more than happy to return to the series and listen to this recently released audiobook.
It was no surprise to see that this three hours and a half long audio adventure is well-written, fast-paced, extremely interesting, and truly entertaining. It was a thrill to discover the origin story four our badass protagonist and to see her juggling between the life of a skilled assassin, the one of a vulnerable young mother, and the complicated feelings she has towards her romantic male interest.
We are used to Leine fighting against drug cartels, serial killers, human traffickers, and other scrupulous individuals or organizations, but this is the beginning, the ultimate betrayal, the double-cross that she never saw coming.
American actress, vocalist, audiobook narrator, and voice artist Kristi Alsip is the narrator of choice for this entire series and she has returned to the recording booth in order to perform the audiobook version of A Killing Truth for the enjoyment and delight of audiobook listeners everywhere.
She delivers the story in her customary way, with enthusiasm and urgency, quickly reading, acting, and bringing each of the characters to life with different voices and seamlessly switching between accents. This being an action thriller, I think that she is just perfect for this kind of over-the-top adventure.
If you like action-packed, fast-paced thrillers driven by a page-turning plot and featuring a resilient woman character, you will definitely love A Killing Truth and the entire Leine Basso series!
I highly recommend this blockbuster adventure to all fans of Gale Lynds, Robert Ludlum, or Taylor Stevens.
